Fortify

The definition of Fortify is to make something stronger in order to protect it.

Exercise to help you stay strong, active and independent.

Fortify is a supportive and adaptable exercise class designed to work on strength, balance, mobility and co-ordination whilst helping you stay active and confident in everyday life.

The class is suitable for anyone who would benefit from a little more support or flexibility with their exercise, including people living with the effects of stroke or Parkinson’s and those experiencing changes in mobility or managing longer-term health conditions, such as arthritis.

Exercises can be adapted to suit what you can do, with a chair available for seated exercise or support when standing and the option to complete the whole class seated if needed.

But supported doesn’t mean boring!

Expect an uplifting workout with music, variety and plenty of opportunities to work at your own level — building strength, practising balance and keeping your body moving in ways that help with the things you do every day.

Is Fortify right for me?

Because Fortify is a small group class, you’ll need to be able to:

  • Be able to walk short distances without another person’s assistance
  • Be able to stand independently or with minimal support (crutch / stick)
  • Be able to use the bathroom independently, or with a carer who can attend with you
  • Feel able to follow instructions safely
